I thought I should check the net for a cost-of-living index. Is that how I would find out? Turns out Asuncion, Paraguay, in South American has the lowest cost-of-living in the world. Is that where my $s would stretch the furthest? (Not to smart in these areas.)

Well it takes alot money to just get up and move across the world to find a cheap place to live. You could go anywhere in South or Central America or even about all of Asia and would be able to live off $500 a month. You still need to deal with their immigration laws. Very difficult, especially if your American, people will try to take advantage of you.
