Both. It is a real chemical reaction that occurs in order to produce pair-bonding behavior. It's a drug really, no different than alcohol or marijuana or any other chemical that alters your consciousness and impairs your judgment, and you can get addicted to it as well. The same goes for fear, joy, rage, excitement, sorrow, all of our emotions. Now, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the drug. Enjoy the hell out of it. Just don't forget that it's a drug.

Love is real. It's interesting that you ask about it being for the survival of our race. What do you mean by that? I suppose love can insure the survival of a family but I always thought it was violence that has been used as a means to insure survival of a race.

Having sex with as many women as possible ensured the survival of our race. Love I believe is to help make sure both partners understand one another and are willing to sacrifice anything for the person they love. Love is meant to help protect what you create, without love it would just be a matter of everyone having as much sex as possible to extend the life of the human race.

love is more of a illness and it can be compared with a drug addiction. when we fall in love our brain gives the body the "happy hormone". in about 1 and a half years to 3 years your body begins to accommodate with this hormone so it needs more. when you can't find a way to stimulate your brain to make it give you this hormone the love ends. however if the couple goes through a hard periods together then the relationship's life is going to be longer than that. the explanation is that the brain is rewarding you for the good way in which you dealt with the awful situation that you two have gone through. so we associate the happy hormone with our partner. and something for the girl with the skinny guy. you should know intelligent women tend to pick the reliable kind of father and not the hunky kind.because women need men who stay with them during the 9 months and after so they'll help them raise the children. and to relate this to what i said you should know that the 1,5 -3 years period is perfect just for this.

Good question! It will provoke a look of good discussion.
I believe that Love is a divine gift, inspired by God. Love is a choice of action, enabling us to live in a peaceable and ethical society. Obviously, there are conflicts in behaviour; hence, war, poverty and suffering.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. Love never dies.

There are plenty of big, strong, incredibly intelligent men out there who just arent for me. It is was for the survival of the human race, Id be swooning over those men, but instead I have my skinny, geeky guy.. because I love him like crazy!!
And even if it was? Who cares? I find some animal instincts rather hot
EDIT: also, remember there are people who choose not to have children!!! They are not together just to create offspring.

Yes it is real. Our race would survive any way, now that most of us have pre marital sex or get married for the wrong reasons.

Love is real. I don't necessarily think people fall in love to procreate. In fact, I have a friend who never want to have kids, but wants to be in love and marry someday.
