an iud prevents the egg from implanting in the uterus. you are not considered pregnant until the fertilized egg has implanted and begun to grow so I wouldn't necessarily call it aborting the pregnancy, just preventing a pregnancy from occurring

Always remember that even with an IUD in place you can still get pregnant. I have had a couple of friends who have had them in and have gotten pregnant, and had the baby.

If I was raped and got pregnant, I would never abort a child. I think its cruel to abort a living baby inside of a mother because its like killing someone. A woman would abort a baby for many reasons. Maybe the mother couldn't have the money or the time to look after it. Or she didn't wanted it in the first place especially when the person raped her.

Yes and no, depending on your definition of "abortion." An egg can still fertilize, but with the IUD in place it cannot implant in the uterine wall and continue growing.

no your body wont abort the baby b/c you wont get pregnant. Several people i know has had one and it has been completely effective. My aunt got electrocuted on her job and hers fell out.
