I don't think we would ever have that problem. Someone is always eager to run so they can run their own agenda once they get into office. It's hard to imagine that politicians would not "jump" at the chance to get to run the country in the way they see fit. I understand what you are saying about taking criticism for making choices, but that happens to other people in positions of authority on a daily basis as well. Being a leader demands the ability to take criticism because no matter what you do, half of the people are going to disagree with you.

Any president will be a target of the other party, humorists, and certain other elements. Bush has received less slamming than Mr. Clinton did. Bush made very clear early on that his children should not be a subject for media attention. Poor Chelsea didn't have that protection. Bill probably just hadn't thought of it. There will always be someone wanting the job, no matter what people say about him/her.

The Speaker of the House would take over, but that won't happen...Even if virtually everyone refused to vote someone into office, only those who did vote would be counted...By the way, we only get to vote for people who have been chosen by others in power, hense the "primarry elections", so we really don't have much of a choice...Others will continue to pick and we just confirm & I'm not so sure our confirmation votes count after the Bush / Gore fiasco...

It is at the point that no one good wants the job. Just power hungry dopes. Look at John Kerry. Is there anything he wont say to get elected, Al Gore was the same, He invented the Internet? They really do think we are stupid and don't pay attention. Hillary does not flip flop or Joe Lieberman now they are being pushed aside?
Were are the people with a strong moral fiber?
Great question!

I like the sound of that, personally. No president. Then disband congress and the supreme court, and we might get back some small bit of liberty in this country. Ah, what a pipe dream.

Congress would have to appoint someone to do this. Maybe we would be better off with several men/women to do this job.
