started using the patch about 9 months ago but just recently I have stopped wearing it and I ended up having alot of bleeding and clumping- It was like having my period but I had it all month long. I am wondering if this is a side effect of the bc ortho evra patch?

Most likely. I had the same problem too being on the patch. After being on it for about a year, I started having severe nausea and vomiting and I eventually stopped using the patch all together because of the many side effects.

I don't know anything about the clumps?! But I ve been on the "patch" for almost 4 years and i havent gain or really even lost weight, skin irritations, or mood swings. I can say that I am always fatigue, but i have low iron anyway. I was on the pills since I was 16 until 19 yrs old and later in those years the pills made me feel nausea any time I took them. Regardless of others opinions, you need to have a patient/doctor relationship with an OB/GYN to get checked out ASAP! And pray about it.

Don't use that thing! People have actually been filing lawsuits against the makers of the ortha evra patch. That patch made me bleed for one months straight!! I was so weak, and felt so sick. I had to take it off, and then I was bleeding for like 3 more weeks.

P.S The Depo shot like the other poster wrote is crap!! I stopped using that thing after 6 months. I'm back on my pills. That shot makes your sex drive so low! It's crazy!

I am on the patch and have been for about 3 years or so. I have had no side effects . Just it does get dirty around the edges and it somewhat hurts when u pull it off to change it or whatever. Just make sure you don't put it in the same place every time :)

I don't recommend this method to anyone or the Depo shots. Both of those have screwed me up. The patch caused me to have a couple seizures and the shots have totally messed up my hormones and I haven't had a period in 4 years.

it's not a side effect, it's your body readjusting to not having this hormone. The patch (pill) really makes your period bearable. Not using anything (hormonally), your period will be much heavier and painful

your cycle on birth control and off birth control may be very different. 1 month is a bit long for it to be that heavy- it would be a good idea to call your OB/GYN or the Dr. who prescribed the patch for you
