When I'm playing in yahoo games I get a black box that pops up with my name and other info and it disappears before I can read it all and then the internet explorer browser crashes. I am concerned that I might have picked up a trojan or worm or keylogger. My software scans for spyware and viruses, but it doesn't show anything else. How can I scan for this?

When I use another browser, I still get the black box popping up during the game, but the other browsers don't crash, only internet explorer. It started doing this a few days ago.
I use stop sign and another anti-spyware software. Neither has detected anything.

They'll make your computer run slowly, crash or give you errors, most of the time you can't detect them until it's too late. I suggest buying a Virus scanner like Norton.

Well, first off, try updating your Anti-virus/spyware program and scan again. Also I suggest you use a variety of programs, not just one. Download AVG at www.grisoft.com for starters, it is free.
If this doesnt help, you either have a system error or a very sneaky malware. Try the following solutions...
1. Go to Start --> Run --> Type "Msconfig" and go to the last tab called Startup. Now go through the check boxes and uncheck anything that you can read (e.g. Coolwebsearch, Getmepornnow, etc) and uncheck them. However, make sure you dont check things such as INTERNAT, SYSTRAY, etc). Once you done this, press ok and restart PC.
2. Run a system check for your registry. To do this, I suggest downloading the free CCleaner program found at www.pcworld.com/52516. Run the different scans and allow it to fix any errors it finds.
3. Avoid Yahoo games? If this problem does not occur anywhere but Yahoo Games, chances are it is not a malware and just a system problem with the incoming data from Yahoo games. If this is the case, I suggest you just find alternatives to Yahoo games, in fact, there are plenty of other sites that offer the same games as Yahoo.. E.g. www.addictinggames.com, www.miniclip.com, www.shockwave.com, www.egames.com

And this only happens when you are playing yahoo games? May be a part of the actual game that is loading that may be causing the problem. Maybe try a different browser and see what happens (if your using IE then try firefox). If you get an error message then record it and research it in the yahoo help section.

Decent anti-spy/adware antivirus should detect these things. Try getting a better prorgram, like PC-Cillin or Norton. Lavasoft makes a free anti-spyware program that catches most stuff.

Go to an on-line scanner and get your computer scanned (Symantec/Computer Associates).
Update IE.
Go to windowsupdate.com
Replace Firewall. Don't use Microsoft's built in one. It monitors incoming traffic not outgoing. Get a bidirectional one such as ZoneAlarm (the free version works like a charm).

Maybe spyware, maybe virus.. I think most likely is sptware. Try to find some spyware online, www.download.com. Can try Spyware Doctor, not bad, but u need to find crack for it for the latest version. The older version no need crack. Or XoftSpy which i'm using now, quite good, but u need to find crack online.. I found already ^_^

Try going to http://housecall.trendmicro.com and running a scan overnight.
Also consider downloading hitman pro from http://www.hitmanpro.nl/ The site's in Dutch (but the program will install in english) but it will automatically run most of the good freeware antispyware programs out there

If a program bugs you every three seconds about checking for spyware and viruses, and there is no way to turn it off.
