I know this guy for 5 mths. He is really nice, caring etc. but I told him before that we should take it slow and be friends but he wants more than that what should I do? I told him friends are forever and boyfriends are usally for a while.....I hate to be hurt again are to hurt someone that i really like. he has one kid a (boy) and i have a daughter that is what makes me want him as a friend when i hear that he went on a date with another person i get kinda jealous. and I assume he does too about me. I just dont know what to say and to do anymore.....

I understand that why you feel jealous. But the choice is yours, you have made a decision that he can be your friend only and not a boyfriend. But on the other hand, this is a test that you can see how strong of the relationship between you and him and how much he loves you. If he really love you, he will come back to you.
I think it's about time for the relationship to have a test.

I think you should be blunt with yourself and see if you are ever going to date him or using him as an emotional crutch because of similar circumstances. if you really have no intentions of dating and your friendship is platonic let him know upfront. It is rare for people to slowly develope a dating relationship.Either the spark is there or it isin't, just be honest with him and yourself.
