I understand that it's technically both left and right but if I was to say which side was mine would I say the left side or the right side?

I sleep on the right side of the bed. If I am standing, facing the head of the bed, it's the left. If someone were to ask me which side I sleep on, I would say right.
Such a simple thing to think, but a difficult thing to explain...:)

if you were standing at the foot of the bed, faceing it , the left side of the bed would be on your right side as you are standing their. but when you get into bed you will be on left side of the bed. with you left arm hanging over the side if you sleep on your back

I am confused by the question but then I'm gonna answer it anyway..... when I stand up from the bed, it's from the left but when I sleep, it's on the right. ;o)

It's both left and right because those two mean the view from your own perspective, not universal perspectives, like North, West, East, and South.
