There was no violence before hip hop. Ever. Except during religious wars and the crusades.

How old are you? You obivously are NOT a Teen or in your twenties, and maybe not your thirties either (maybe ill give you later 30's) Because if you were young you would remember what it was like being young and how it was not all about violence.
It is not all young people who act this way. It is a small minority that do, but they get all the publicity about it and therefore set the tone for how America and the rest of the world view the American Youth.
I'll give you that some of America's youth is violent, but if you look at it, its not just the youth. there are plenty of people over the age of 30 and 40 that are just as violent and make just as much trouble.
The youth of America learns from the generation before them. You want to blame someone for the amount of violence between the youth, blame the generation before them...they messed up somewhere, but I'm not here to place blame. Children who grow up in the inner city, take chicago for example, have a hard life and don't get to be children for very long. With the amount of gangs that run the city, it is a miracle if they are a child past the age of 5. Most children get drawn into these gangs by older siblings or parents. Many fight so are to aviod them, but inevitable wind up involved somehow. The city is a poor neighboorhood where many people don't know how to deal with it resort to violence and crime to "solve" there problem.
As for the hiphop/rap music, don't knock what you don't like. I'll give you that a majority of rap is pretty trashy, but you can't knock the music. As for the artists, many of them grew up in a rough neighborhood where they had to "fight" to survive. That is not just something you can forget or leave behind. Something like that that you learn at a young age tends to stay with you your whole life.
I also think it is very ignorant to say "you despise the entire 'gansta' culture" cuz until you have lived through the gansta culture or try to understand it, you really have no idea what its all about.
Also there is a difference between hiphop and rap. I would disagree that it is hiphop that goes on about violence, sex, drugs, etc. I would say it is more so rap. There is a difference, they are not the same thing.
While it is so sad that those kids were killed, there has to be more to the story than just rap music behind it. There has to be some other motive or reasoning behind it.
I understand that you are frustrated with the amount of violence that goes on, and believe me, i am too. But you have to stop and look at all the facts before you place blame. It is not soley the youth that cause all the violence and trouble. Eminem and other celebraties do not ask to be role models but are forced into that role. Many of them don't know how to set a good example, but some do try. Eminem has tried to be role model in one way or another. In many of his songs he sings about his daughter and how he wants to be there for her, and wants to be a good father. That even though the situation is bad, she is loved and is taken care of. That right there says a lot.
Look at the facts before you go accusing the Youth of violence and all this other stuff, because adults are just as, if not more responsible for it than the youth.

Oh gosh.. where do we start. I agree with your entire post. I grew up on hiphop and it's not the same music as it was years ago. I think we give people to much freedom. there should be more censorship. Parents are afraid of their kids. Kids are afraid of other kids and they don't want to seem like punks so they are followers. Society as a whole is afraid to speak out. It's all about money. Guns are just to accesible. Most of the stuff that's in the music is not true. This is what music execs believe sells. They don't care who it effects or the fact that it's killing a generation. they're just want to fatten their pockets. So they won't even let a person put a decent hiphop song. Now strippers are used in all their music videos, so now we have young girls aspiring to be strippers/ video whores. I wish i knew the answers.

Well i think as america has a open door policy to mainly non whites in particular the asian gangs are violent yet sophisticated with white collar crime . Then we have the jewish element that seems to evade law at all levels for some strange reason . As for violence well between the ******* and wetbacks there is enough firepower on the streets that they control certain areas and with the current budget of america in debt in the trillions this may be the future as police forces are being sized down quietly . oh my! i guess any white person with smarts ,balls should be prepared to defend themselves ....most white people are being eliminated by the multi national corporations that are not hiring white people anymore . white people have been told go away ...

It kind of looks like your blaming all of todays societies problems on the urban youth.A little racist are we?Sure now with the media attention that certain rap stars are getting i can see how a small minded individual would say "well damn theres are problem right there, all them @#^*#^'s are the problem...look their at it again."The thing is its way beyond the rap culture, its in the way the government still looks at african-americans,or rather the looking away part.Things such as poverty, poor school systems, crooked law officers, and people who just dont care all contribute to what i believe to be the attitude of we dont care anymore.Rap music has grown to a state of taking over major parts of life, even the poser white guys, sports today are known as the hip hop era with Mr.Stern laying down the whip to those who dress "different".Those incidents of gun shot violence are usually in the heavily, lets say overcrowded areas of angry black men who have given up and have joined the street life. These incidents are far and in between plus pointing out the fact that rappers often go to jail are quite lame because its just a ploy to sell records(often misdeamenors or first offendors).Hip hop is here to stay and it will continue to grow in your back yard...get used to it and remember just because someone is walking past wearing his shorts 6" below his waist wearing jewelry it doesnt mean hes a bad person....its a lifestyle.Case and point me grad student of Villanova University and applying my talents to the world plus im still ballin on the weekends.

Look at every form of entertainment that's being marketed to the under 25 crowd---most of it is violent, anti-social, se*xually degrading and overall, just miserabley dismal. Kids aren't going out to see Sound of Music nor are they listening to "Up, Up Away in My Beautiful Balloon". Sure, there have always been the rebels but now it seems it is more of a trend than anything.

Now verses 60 years ago theres a big difference in a few areas. First is home values, second is diversity, and third is electronics. People are more busy, they have electronics to babysit, and alot of the small town values are missing. The kids now rely on peers other than parents.

Conservatives say it is because of a lack of God and Faith. That video games, Rap, and sex are turning the children from God. So then they become heathens apon the earth.
Liberals say that it is Parenting Issuses. That children turn to violence among other things because they have bad Parents and bad Rolemodels. Aswell the possibility there is a genetic link to it.
You choose.

Yes, it does seem to be a poor way of relating to life. Those who are most attracted to it are those who want to be 'gangstas' so that's what you get.
Is there some way to stop this kind of music? Not in this country. Freedom of expression..........
Parents could try to keep their kids away from it but the older ones will go where they choose.

First of all you have no statistical data to back up your claim that most young people are violent. I doubt that it comes close to the most on how many are violent.
Second of all didn't you have a rant about hip hop not long ago?
Third of all my parents, society and the government were all yelling about the young people of my day and we were flower children.
GET OVER IT!
