I am moving there in October to marry my girlfriend and was wondering how hard it is to get married in the Philippines.

It is not that hard to marry in the Philippines. It is your choice if you want an extravagant or a simple wedding.It is better to talk to your gf and suggest to her the ideal wedding you wanted and compromise.About the Filipino culture, Filipinos are kind and hospitable, you don't have to worry. I am a Filipina and you are very welcome to come here in the Philippines.

Do your research.
Not only in regards to marriage, but what do you need to do in advance to move there? Visa? Employment Visa? Permits? etc. Passport, of course. Anything else. Are you American? If so, beware that there is a "bit of a bias" against americans there, which could cause problems in finding a job, socializing, etc.

it is not hard to marry in the Philippines but to be sure ask your embassy on what to do. When my sister and her fiancee got married they ask the US embassy on what papers are they going to prepare and it took them 3 months to complete the papers.

its not hard........specially if it is a civil wedding
just go to the local registrar office and they will walk you in the process
take note that there is no divorce in the Philippines.......
