trim so they bloom again

Wait until they quit blooming, or prune them before they start budding in the Spring. You can trim them fairly hard, they will branch out and bloom anyway. Just use a sharp pair of trimmers to shape the bush the way you want it.

I don't know about trimming them hard. I do know for a fact that they set the blooming bud for next year THIS YEAR. I'm just not certain when it's set....good luck
