use the very soft bristled baby brush. That helps sometimes without scraping their scalp too much. If neither that or shampoo helps, it is probably just somethin he/she will have to outgrow. Either that, or it could be eczema or something else? I would talk to the dr, too at the next checkup to make sure it really is cradle cap.

Treating cradle cap - for the scalp and eyebrows, you can massage in olive oil or baby oil, then gently comb or brush out the flakes. This isn't a cure, however, and the crusts generally keep building back up again for the whole first year of life. You can get rid of cradle cap once and for all using dandruff shampoo (either a selenium or a tar based shampoo is fine) twice a week for several weeks. You can decrease the frequency as the condition improves. You may need to use it once a month or so to keep the "dandruff" away.

Use Dove Moisturizing Body Wash. It's gentle and not as messy as oils. My pediatrician told me to use a dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulders when my daughter had cradle cap so I did and it was gone during the bath but always came back by morning. She had cradle cap until she was about 1 year old. My husband's cousin told me to try Dove bar soap on our son. I already had the Dove Moisturizing Body Wash so I tried that. My son's cradle cap cleared up within a couple of weeks using that. Good luck!

First let me say - DO NOT USE BABY OIL OR VASELINE! They are petroleum based products and very bad for the skin. Any oils you use on your baby (and you) should be plant based (olive oil, grape-seed oil, etc) .

Here 's what I did for all three of my guys and it worked very well and got rid of the cradle cap within a couple of days.

First, I massaged liberal amounts of apricot oil (Burt's Bees) into baby's head and then let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then I poured more oil into the baby brush. Using the brush, I massaged baby's head in small circular motions for about 10 minutes. A lot of the cradle cap will start to lift.

Then I gave baby a bath, and while in the bath, I again used liberal amounts of baby shampoo and used the brush in circular motions for about 5 minutes, then rinse well.

You will get a lot of it, but not all of it. Wait 3-4 more days and repeat the process. After 2-3 sessions, his little noggin should be all clean!

Have you shampoo'd w/clarifying shampoo? Also gently scrub the skin to rid it of the excess oil built up which cradle cap is.
Rinse with a mixture of white vinegar and warm water:

The best way to get rid if it is to use baby oil. Put the baby oil on the baby's head and then use a fine tooth comb to remove the dry skin. It comes right off. It doesn't hurt and your baby will be so happy not to be itchy all the time. Works everytime.

Apply Johnson's Baby Oil to the scalp. Cradle cap occurs when the scalp is dry.

I am a mother of 5. I had one or two of my babies have this problem. This is what I did. First I washed their hair. Then when their hair is still wet I took a small comb and gently scraped it off. Then I washed their hair again. I may have had to repeat the same thing over again if it all wasn't out. I remember that this worked really well.
