This is a software abnormality. It comes up when Windows or whatever program this is finds out that a required file is missing or a bad file script. Questions you might want to reflect upon include, have you deleted something recently without realizing what you're deleting and have you recently been infected by a type of malware (spyware, viruses, trojans, worms). If you have deleted something accidentally or recently been infected by malware, your best choice, if running WinXP or WinME or Win2k, would be to run system restore and restore the computer to a point before being infected or deleting the file. If running older versions, take your computer to a computer repair store or you could reinstall your OS if it came with a CD, but then again that causes you to lose all your files. Sorry :-( NEED MORE DETAIL TO FIGURE OUT PROBLEM

What this message is telling you is that there is a program that is running on your system giving this error. The good news is that there is nothing wrong with your computer, it is the fault of a program that is running on your computer.
In order to find out which program is giving this error message, the top of the error message may display the program name.
There is usually an OK button and on the top of the error message there should be a title. this title will have the dash, square and X buttons on the right hand side. hopefully the pogram name will be displayed in this title. turn off the program and the problem should be solved.
Otherwise, do you remember when the error messages started, and what was the last program that was installed on the computer. this program is the likely culprit.
Thanks

In a situation like this the first thing I'd do is close anything that is running at start up, start->run->msconfig->startup tab and uncheck everything you know is unimportant, then go to the services tab and click the Hide All Microsoft Services, and uncheck the ones you know are unimportant... reboot... still get the error download hijackthis, analyze your system and delete crap from your browser that is a addon (you'll probably beable to recognize which is needed). Other than that I'd need more detail on the error, so you can try googling the exact mismatch error you are receiving.

1st Step: Calm Down
2nd: Do an online scan (eg. www.live.com>click Sign in>type your hotmail username/password>click ENTER>Get the 'safety center' thing>do a full scan. If that doesn't work:
3rd: Go to Symantec/Computer Associates (McAfee) website>Do an online scan. If that doesn't work:
4th: www.safer-networking.org>download 'Spybot Search and Destroy' (FREE!)>Scan for spyware. If that doesn't work:
5th: Reinstall Windows IMPORTANT: BACK-UP ALL DATA AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE DISCS OF ALL PROGRAMS.
Good Luck

You could try using spybot search and destroys startup manager ( which is much better than msconfig) to turnoff every single startup entry. If problem then goes away after a reboot, turn the entries on one or two at at a time, rebooting after each change, until you find the problem child. Once you know what is causing the issue, the you can try and fix it.

it is most likly a messed up program. try going to start > run > msconfig. go to the startup tab and hit the "disable all" buttion. next go to the services tab and check the box that says "hide all microsoft services" ***VERY IMPORTANT..IF YOU FORGET TO CHECK THE BOX YOUR COMPUTER WILL NOT EVER START UP AGAIN!*** next hit the disable all buttion. hit apply and okay. hit restart on the box that pop's up and restart your computer. if it stops giving you an error than it is a program on that startup tab list. if it continues then it is a program dealing with WinXP and you are, for the most part, screwed.

Have you tried a system restore? Maybe you downloaded something by accident and it could be reversed by this action.
