xbox 360 is what i would go for. It has freaking amazing graphics and pretty good games. I watched someone play and I thought they were watching a movie it looked so real.

Why?
PS2 at this point is going to be obsolete very soon.
PS3 is going to carry a $499-$599 price tag ($599 if you want all the features). Though it would carry popular 3rd party franchises (such as Metal Gear Solid), they might jump to multi-platforming instead of staying as exclusive 3rd party.
Xbox is pretty much obsolete now with the Xbox 360.
Xbox 360 is a viable option with a decent price tag. I'll need to see more games that are must-haves.
Nintendo Wii, while the controller may be a gimmick, new, and well different, is the cheapest of the three and well, time will tell if it is going to be any good. There has been some promising things (much like the others) shown regarding games.

Depends on what type of games you like. It sounds like you are already an Xbox fan so the 360 maybe the choice for you. Hopefully more designers will jump ship and create games for the 360 than did for the original Xbox.

well, it depends on what company you like best.
personly i think Gates is using x-box to take over our generation of technogoly.
heres why i think you should think about a ps3.
1. it's made by japan, and they know what their talking about when it comes to wireing and computers.
2. ps3 is going to have so many new features that the 360 missed: blue ray movies, most games have free internet use and more.
3. ps3 have the most diverse games. they have games evenly spread out on the E to M ratings. the 360 i think only has a sport game and over the hedge for the E's. microsoft and x-box like to make lots of M games 'cuz they sell the best.

How bout none of the above. Save your money, and get the system that's gonna have the coolest games and controllers, like Zelda: Twilight Princess and Mario.
Get the Nintendo Wii.
