Very bad idea. Someone will find it and will read it. I strongly advise against it. (Been there, done that, never again)

I've kept a diary since 1969. It's fun to look back sometimes to my early years in college or when I was first married to see what I was thinking then.
I also collect old diaries from the 1800s. These are valuabe documents about how people really lived and thought in those times. Someday, my journals will be read by a researcher in 2070 and they will know more about 1969-2006.

Keeping a diary or a journal is like writing down your own history book. It is a perfect venue for expressing your personal and innermost thoughts about things, daily experiences and putting perspective to your existence. I also keep a journal, and I believe that it offers healing. I consider it to be a therapy because I find that I could express myself freely in it without inhibitions. It also gives comfort because of the idea that there is someone who listens to your troubles, even if you virtually find yourself as your own reader. I encourage you to do so, soon enough it will help you gradually develop your creative writing skills.

Keeping diaries are a great way to keep details happening in your life. Sometimes, when you reflect back after a while, you'll see your mistakes and learn from it. A great way of self-reflection. But on the other hand, you'll have to keep it secure. You won't want people to see your embarassing moments, do you?

Simply for fun, and something that you can record your events and history in.
One benefit is reading them a while after you have finished writing in it. You can see how you have learned and changed. It's pretty funny sometimes!
Other people, however, use journals/diaries for therapy. Writing down your feelings and thoughts is excellent therapy....
I just recently gave a journal to my friend that had gone through a bad breakup and she says it helps her a great deal.
Hope this helps! =]

Great question!! Sometimes when people have no one to talk to they spill it all out in a journal or ofcourse diary! Trust me it helps, its also sometimes fun to read back through it and see what you've gone through. If your keeping all your feelings to yourself it is a great way to just let it all out! It can also just be a memour of your life.

It's sometimes like speaking to someone, only it won't go anywhere to repeat what you've said. It can be used for getting things off your chest(e.g venting), as a sounding board for an idea or simply working through a problem that you may not be able to share with anyone.
Mostly it is used as an invaluable record of accounts.

Well..if you do..I wouldn't write anything down if you had a bad day...I would just write the good stuff..so one day you can look back and smile! As for the bad days write a letter poor out all of your feelings then rip it up and throw it away!!<3
