I'm moving to Texas(dallas)....?

i'm from new york, what will they think of me? i'm in 10th grade, and i was just wondering about the clothes and stuff, will they think my fashion is weird? it's not like i'm gonna change just cause of what people think, but i would just like to be ready for any stupid people who are gonna judge me before i talk

if you give respect, you will get respect. just be friendly and open.

no matter where you might go in life, there will be people that make judgements about you before you say anything. but if you think about it, you have probably done the same to others.

Dallas has become a melting pot; not in the same sense that New York is, but there are people from all over represented. Be prepared for intense heat throughout the summer and early fall, and don't ready yourself for much of a winter. Your fashion will be no weirder than that of any other person your age; society is more global now with the internet and cable, and you'll blend in just fine.

The only thing I can think of that would possibly alienate you from potential peers is any overt arrogance or air of superiority. as in saying how much better New York is than Texas or things like that. You'll notice a pronounced difference in the way Texans talk (of course); try your best not to mock people in your school, but be prepared to take a little of it; kids are kids after all.

I know how difficult it must be to make such a major move at your age; my family moved from Dallas to Chicago when I was a sophomore in high school, I lost a lot of my accent up there, then we moved back two years later, and people called me a Yankee ( everyone from the North is a "Yankee" to people in the South ).

There's no way to prepare yourself for stupid people, because just when you think you've seen it all, some dumb idiot will come along and show you ( or say ) something even dumber. Ignore the idiots and the rednecks, and you'll soon find a peer group who cares who you are, not where you're from. Welcome to Texas!

I think it depends on what school you go to. My nephew is in the 9th grade and he moved to Dallas, Texas. He is also from New York. Well he actually lives in Flowermound, which is a small town outside of Dallas. But everyone there likes him alot. He is pretty much friends with everyone. They actually thought that it was really cool that he was from New York. They don't dress any different from anyone else in the country. They have a different acsent than New Yorkers, but you will catch on to that. Don't worry, you will be fine.

You're gonna be just fine---the schools in Dallas will be different than what you're use to but in a good way--and you'll find that the trends here are easy enough to deal with---you'll be adjusting for a short bit but not for long before you'll be in the thick of it---and it's gonna be just fine...Dallas is a great place

Where will you be living in Dallas? Every part is different. Im going to be a senior next year. What school? Im sure you will do just great. Just be yourself. I know someone who has moved here from up north and they love it down here! Its hot so get ready!

You'll be fine. Dallas is filled with people from all over the country. If they judge you for any reason other than what a great person you are, then forget about them.

Some will consider you a damn Yankee. It is like Texas racism against people from the north. They will assume you have an attitude until you show them that you are nonjudgmental and friendly and not an airhead who like uses the word like, like every couple of like seconds. You will be surprised at how diverse the population is there, with many Hispanic and Asian kids.

There is not much of a difference in clothing. The main thing I'd be worried about is the accent and your language. We tend to say the stereotypical words like "ya'll" and "folks". That's pretty much all I know.

My cousins live there...(I'm visiting them in August. :o)

Anyway, some of the people in malls were kind of rude, but, that's everywhere. XD~

For the most part, though, people were really nice. ^^

Don't worry, I'm sure people will like you and won't think bad about your fashion or anything.

Also, though, people're going to be judging you by how you look anywhere you go...those people, though, you can ignore. =3~)

No, we don't act or dress like you think. It is a stereotype. Byt you should fit in well because ppl here are nice and i don't think that they will judge:) GOOD LUCK! GO to six flags over texas it is so awsome!
