Most shows last twenty minutes to a half hour, and for some reason when you light one off, you get a certain satisfaction when it is spectacular, and take the credit when people tell you how awesome that was. Strange, of course it is. It is similar to getting complemented on a new car, I mean it is not as though you designed or built the thing. A good firework display is bigger than we are, really pretty, and exciting because there is always that slight bit of danger.

Seconds or minutes of entertainment is better than none at all. Nothing wrong with having some fun. And the colors and lights of them can be beautiful with good ones.

I used to buy hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks every year.... shooting them off was only half the fun.... I really enjoyed buying what I thought would give me more bang for my buck and trying to buy as many as possible and then I would invite my family over and my fireworks display would beat all of the neighbors so bad that they would come over to me and tell me I had won! lol

people like fireworks because of all the lights and the sound they make. also some fireworks come out to be a picture of something(e.x. American flag), so that's why it is fun

I love the forth of July it brings the child with in me come out as for it lasting a few minutes not for me I look forward to it year after year.

that's why those seconds are memories that will last. It's like asking why do people go to the movies,have sex, go on first dates the excitement.
