Actually, I do like magpies. :) I like them for all the reasons you mentioned (although hopefully not TOO noisy). Plus i also think they are beautiful birds.
Here in California, we have a species that supposedly is found nowhere else but in this state!! Its common name is the yellow-billed magpie; its Latin classification name is Pica nuttalli. The only thing more striking than its super-long, iridescent tail is its brilliantly yellow BEAK! (We do have black-billed magpies as well, BTW).

They are noisy and raucous when one wants peace and quiet; they take every shiny thing they see, so lots of precious jewelry goes to a magpie's lair where it gets warped, broken, or otherwise damaged; and they add to other birds' precious bundles of poo on cars, people and other objects, moving or not. I do like most avians, but they don't really have any redeeming qualities-- they have rather dull feathering, and their voices aren't exactly pleasing, so what is there to like about them?

No, magpies suck! Take advantage of the fact that they ignore you to get close enough to them to throw rocks accurately. But be careful. The little bstards will peck your eyeballs out. I once saw a magpie peck some dudes eye out and then crawl into the eyeball socket and peck at his brain until he was dead. They aren't to be messed with, they are to have war waged upon them. And that is precisely what I am doing. Join with me, my brothers and sisters, and we will defeat the magpies once and for all! Only then can the world truly live in peace.
Are you with me?

Wonderful birds. They belong to the smartest family of birds. They're one of my favorites. I'm happy someone else noticed too.

Love 'em.
Did you know that the 'pie' part of their name means "two toned?"
Like a piebald horse or the Pied Piper.
They're great scavengers and will clean up after butchering. Thanks, you cocky birds.
