Every woman is different. If you are really having regular periods (it is often *impossible* to tell without doing more tests), then you should be fertile. However, it can take up to 6 for a very fertile couple to get pregnant and longer if one of you is less fertile.

I know how you feel because my husband and I tried for two years before getting pregnant and then I lost it. Then it took me another year to get pregnant with my son. But I had all kinds of tests done and everything. I don't know your situation but I do know that stress does not help. My doctor performed a procedure on me and he told my husband and I that sometimes after this procedure some women tend to get pregnant almost right way. It's called a hysterosalpingogram. All they do is inject dye up through your tubes to make sure that they are clear for sperm to get through. Sometimes when they flush them there could be a slight blockage and this gets cleared out so sperm can go through. When I had it done I got pregnant three or four months later. I wished I had done this a long time ago but they do things in steps and you have to go through other tests before having this done. It sounds like you have and if you have never had this done I would talk to your doctor. If you have this test done and the results come back ok then I would have your husband be checked. How old were you when you started trying to conceive?

About 85-90% of women with "normal" cycles will get pregnant within a year. Since you haven't had normal cycles these past 3 years and 8 months, you technically have only had 4 months of normal cycles. So, if you are ovulating and everything else is okay, statistically, you may get pregnant in the next 8 months. However, there are so many other factors that affect conception, its difficult to give you an accurate time.

Good to hear the metformin has you ovulating! Worked for me too. Sounds like (like me) you may have PCOS (high testosterone, annovulation...) As to why you're not PG yet, there are many possible reasons: egg quality, implantation problems, male factor, perhaps just the stress of trying... Some problems can be helped by adding Clomid (fertility drug) to the Metformin regime.

Have you discussed this with your DR? Are you using a OB/GYN only or a Reproductive Endocrinologist (aka fertility doc)? Has hubby been tested?

You could go back to your doctor and ask him to test you for Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The high testosterone is one of the things that go along with PCOS. I found out about 6 months ago that I have PCOS, and that is why I have had such a hard time getting pregnant. I wish you the best of luck and hope that when you do get pregnant, you have a beautiful, healthy baby with a great delivery. Don't give up hope.

Facts:
Most women have a 15 to 25 percent chance of getting pregnant during their cycle.
Nearly 50 percent of couples conceive during the first 3 months.
About 75 percent of couples conceive during the first 6 months.
Up to 90 percent of couples conceive during the first year.

Don't give up just yet! The med's are probably working for you, it's just that you have to be patient.

I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive forum that I think you might find useful. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about these issues, it's also got a special section for women who are taking medications to become pregnant. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

I will assume that both of you have seen a doctor and both are now ready for takeoff... in which case, it could just be timing and getting all systems ready.

From your statement, you seem to already know your ovulation cycle and when it comes, so just make sure your husband is ready (as in fully loaded) when the time comes to conceive. I would hope he's not engaging in any self pleasure during any 'down time' between cycles and thus reducing his pressure during the critical moment. Try not to make love for about three to four days prior to takeoff, so that his pressure is good.

Good luck trying...

This worked for me twice, after being diagnosed with secondary infertility...have sex EVERYDAY on days 14-23 AFTER your period starts. Trust me...with my daughter...2 months...with my son...almost 3 months. I can't really say it's all scientific, but I got it by reading some info where people think that they are fertile only on that 14th day...but some people's day was maybe that 23rd day...so I just decided to make sure I'm having sex all those days through.

Some other tips...don't get up to go to the bathroom afterwards
Put a pillow under your butt to tilt your pelvis to make the sperm go deeper into the cervix
Make sure you orgasm...that will guide the sperm upwards
Start your prenatal vitamins already
Um...oh...and drink lots and lots of Orange juice...I drunk like a gallon a day

Keep my email addy...I'm telling you...it will work, you can email me in 2 months and tell me the good news!

if your having too much sex that's bad , you and your partner should try taking vitamins, you need to limit your caffeine intake, the male should drink more caffeine.
make sure hes not wearing tight underwear or pants, do not take hot shower before sex it limits the sperm
you should try to have an orgasm before he finishes , it makes the cervix weaker and the sperm can travel better
good sex positions is doggy style and missionary
do not get up for 30 min. do not go to the bathroom after sex, try to go before
and have sex 2 days before ovulation , sperm will live inside for up to 4 days, so when you start to ovulate and the egg gets released it has a better chance, try to have sex 2 days before you ovulate, 2 days after , and 2 days after that.
you might have a fertility problem 4 yrs is a long time if trying
threes a 25% chance every cycle , dont try too hard
