Brand new 2/1's in Wharton Texas for $69,000 - 3/2's for $89,000 on a 50' x 150' city lot. The rents are about $700 for a 2/1 and $850 for a 3/2.

Average price a little over $500,000 in Southern California. I do rent, and I'm paying close to $750/mo. for a tiny 1BR apt which is pretty good for the area I'm in.

This is a relatively new neighborhood. New homes start around $90K now, median price for real estate about $150K.
Rentals go for around $400/1bdrm
$750/2 or 3 bdrm, and up for something a bit less generic.
