Childbirth is always painful unless you have an epideural, but those have certain risks. However, the pain is one that you know will have a good end, so this helps to make it tolerable. Some women can handle the pain and others really need the epideral. (I had all 5 of my kids naturally, but my sister had hers with the epideral.)
As for the arthritis, I am not totally sure about that - you need to ask a doctor. I think that for sure you will be fine if the arthritis is not in your hips. My daughter has hip dysplasia in one of her hips and plans to have children; I think that there is a possiblity that she may have to have a c-section if her hips loosen up too much.

It depends on whether or not you have drugs when you deliver, and how large the baby is...and how small you are. Usually pelvic width...not overall physical size is the key there.
Let's assume you're normal, and the baby is normal..and you do natural except for a peritoneal block...then the answer is: Yes, it hurts. Of course, by the time the 9 months is up, you're pretty much willing to do ANYTHING to get back to "normal".
No one tells you that "normal" changes once you have a baby.
I believe there may be a genetic indicator for childhood arthritis. I honestly don't remember...try looking it up on the Arthritis Foundation web site.
Oh..and everyone will tell you how you'll forget everything once you hold your baby in your arms...bull. Unless you have a really SHORT memory. And..they'll tell you how you'll feel a "rush of maternal love"...also bull. You may. You may not.

I don't know about the arthritis, but...on the real...by the time the baby's head makes an appearance, your cervix will have been stretched to unreal proportions.
In short, that sh** hurts more that I can ever begin to describe.
Some women say that the pain is forgotten immediately after giving birth.
That's a lie!
I will never forget and as a result, I haven't had another baby!

Birth is very painful, I can't speak for every woman but it was horrible for me. The pain is nothing compared to what you are getting--a beautiful baby.
You need to talk to your doctor about genetics and if Juvenile Arthritis can be passed on to the offspring. You could also check on the net for info but beware not everything you read will be fact.
Good Luck to you in the future

Hunny the hole thing is painful but if it wasn't worth it trillions of mothers all across the world wouldn't do it every day.... the worst part (not that you'll know it) is when the shoulders come out, because they're slightly bigger than the head is but once they have the head it is coming out within seconds! Yes your children may get that or it may skip a generation... but he/she is your baby you'll find a way to make it better!

I had pain meds but when my son's head came out it was a neat and weird feeling. It felt like a cork coming out of a bottle. I thought it was really cool. I did not have any pain because I had lots of pain meds.

Its not quite as bad as you think, while childbirth is painful, the end result is so beautiful you forget any pain that goes on during child birth, so just relax and let nature take its course...

That's what modern medicine is for :) I had an epidural and did not feel ANYTHING until after it wore off well after delivery was over.
With regards to arthritis, talk to your doctor.
