I REALLY! do NOT think there are alot of goths that cut themselves. I am guessing that most cutters are not goths. Goths are EXTREME conformists that have decided they cannot be individuals any longer so they join this black cloud and camoflage themselves so others can't see that they are different. I believe at one time most of the goths were trying to make a statement that they were individuals and were special and tried to get negative attension now more and more people are becoming just like each other. It is pretty easy to get friends if your goth too. All you have to do is be dark. Well thats not hard, the trick is being the opposite, being the light. If you want to make your self stand out amoung our society now you have to be an over acheiver, that does not follow general trends.

It's not just goths who cut themselves. Many people cut to release any kind of pain they are going through. I dont think people should hurt themselves though.

It's not a goth thing it's a puberty thing. Sometimes the physical pain of cutting helps to forget about the emotional pain a person is going through. It's cathartic for them not retarded.

I have never understood that goth stuff and I guess I never will do not want to know LOL maybe they cut themselves to get the color red in there makeup to cut down on make up cost to add more color range - - in the make up selection

its not just goths,all form of people do this so when they feel that pain create a diversion from emotional pain.breakup of friendship,death in family,mom and dad divorce,etc etc.

I would rather have my boyfriend cut me while we are having sex. That is one of the sexiest things, and I love it! I don't think it hurts, especially if the razor blade is sharp enough.

they dont think its cool, its an outlet...i did some research on it for a junior project...it helps them feel that they are in control of whatever life throws them...im not sure, why dont you ask the people that do it??

I've talked to ppl who cut themselves, they say it's an escape, like drugs, sex, music, or whatever.
i still don't get it much myself, mainly because my escape is mainly just my music.
