no. the sun is a complex formation of gases and molten metals and plasma. all of which are made of compounds. all of which are made of molecules. all of which are made of atoms. so on and so forth. so in short, no.

The sun is not an atom. Recall that an atom is a single tiny particle, smaller than a molecule. The sun is a gigantic ball of hydrogen, helium, and other molecules in a spectacular thermal and chemical reaction. The sun is composed of an unimaginable amount of atoms, but it is not an atom itself.
You can't really slice it, either. It's not sliceable in the solid sense (like cheese), and one cannot slice gas. Really, it's not possible to slice it anyway... with what gigantic instrument would one slice it?

The sun is not an atom. It is made up of trillions(or maybe more) of atoms at such a high temperature tthat it is plasma. An atom you can only see with an electon Microscope. The sun is a star.

No, the sun is not an atom. No, you're not right. Haven't you ever heard that song....
The sun is mass of incadecent gas... a giant nuclear furnace.... and so on and so on.

the sun is a chain of nuclear reactions, a gaint burning bomb. It is not a solid, therefore you cannot cut it in half. As for it exploding, it is exploding, constantly, like a nuclear bomb.

Isn't there more to the defintion of an atom?
Like don't you need a center of neutrons and protons, and then electrons circling the middle?
I dunno, I might be off, I had chemistry years ago in middle school...
