Is it enabled? Check your "control Panel" to see if it's enabled and also see how many minutes is set before it activates.

I have recently had trouble with mine. I write computer programs and some of them when running, if I don`t do anything for 5 minutes or so, the screen saver starts, and when I then stop it by moving the mouse, on some occasions when I return to my program, the screen has completely cleared and so I can`t use the program. The problem isn`t with one program or the screen saver, it`s just that they ain`t compatible with each other, and so you can`t have both running together. The only simple solution I can see is either turn the screen saver off when running these programs, or stop at your system so the screen saver doesn`t start up. I have noticed quite a lot of incompatible windows programs. It`s the testers faults for not testing things properly.

Its simple the reason is either you have made the time period so long that it is not attaining that time interval for starting the screen saver, check by right click on empty desktop and click on properties and in the new window click on Screen Saver and check the time.

Or else you mouse be not able to remain in statis position for long the vibration keeps the mouse rolling and thus the screen saver is not enabled.

If it's something you downloaded, it could be a faulty screen saver.
If it's one of the pre-installed Windows screensavers you should check to make sure the time before the screen saver comes on is set low enough. Does it work when you choose Preview on the Screensaver tab?
