I have the 2 Liter Diet Pepsi but couldn't find mint mentos...found fruit flavored ones instead. Will it work with fruit flavored ones and how many do I use to get that great explosion. (We're using them for 4th of July excitement !!). thanks,

fruit is ok

if you REALLY want it to shoot up, put a hole the size of a pencil in the cap, then empty out about a cup or two of pepsi, then put the mentos in a tisue and the tissue in the bottle so the edges hang over the side and screw the cap in so the mentos in the tissue are suspended above the pepsi. THEN give it a good shake and the tissue will get wet and break and the pepsi will shoot out the cap hole about 20x as high

You can use any carbonated drink, but people seem to say that Diet works better.

The Gum Arabic causes the surface tension of the water molecules to break even more easily, releasing more carbon dioxide gas at an increased rate -- so fruity should work just fine.

I just tried using 16-oz. bottles, and they're nowhere near as good, but I found out that 3 is the magic number. For that size. But you only get about a 2-3 foot tall plume of fizz, no matter how many Mentos you use more than 3.

whole pack, roll up a paper tube and put them in there for a fast drop. flavored would prolly work, but stick with plain if you can.
