Are all ghosts and spirits evil or good or neither or both?

Serious answers only please. Give some reason why you do or do not believe.

I believe in ghosts and that there are both good and bad spirits in the world. However I know people close to me that believe if there are ghosts they are evil and "of the devil". I don't agree with this closed minded idea. Just wondered what you all think.

really this depends on how you choose to view this. i honestly believe that not all spirits ghosts ,etc are all bad. but due to religous beliefs many people think these kind of things are evil and should not be thought about. i honestly think that this is one of the more complex questions that you will get many different views and theories on. but if you are confused on what you think about this stuff just stop for a moment and ask yourself what you think about stuff like this. have a mental argument with yourself. i know that sounds insane but it really helps. ^.^

I am a ghost hunter. I can honestly say that 99.999% of all spirits are benign. Most of them don't even know you are around. However there is the .001% that can be malevolent. The reasons are varied and wide spread why this is. The most common one is that is how they were in life. If a person lived a decent life then they if they become ghosts their "essence" if you will is the same. In other words your spirit reflects how you were as a physical being. It is obvious that I do believe, and the reason being is I have seen one as a child and experienced too many things to be passed off as "imagination" or "natural".
I have also heard the voices of spirits on recordings, called evp's (electronic voice phenomenon). No one knows exactly why ghosts are, but they are here and are not in any way demons, evil spirits, or such. In fact I have never heard of an actual true case of demonic possession of a dwelling (Amityville horror was proved to be an elaborate hoax). The closest was the movie Poltergeist. It is based on a true story about a town in Colorado. It was built on an old graveyard and only the headstones were moved. They are still experiencing paranormal activity to this day.
There are many things that we mere humans cannot comprehend or even perceive to just dismiss the existence of ghosts, or any other paranormal sightings.

Depends entirely on what culture of mythology these supernaturals are based on. Japanese culture, for instance, have so many spirits which are categorized from being truly evil (the Oni) to a few that are good spirits and those that bring no harm at all (like the Racoon Spirit). Most of Western culture feature spirits as restless souls that continue to wander until their desires are completed and taken to their proper place (such as the events in the movie Ghost) or taken care of by the Exorcist.

After a fateful encounter with a female ghost as a child (who, from what I've been told years later, is a harmless spirit), I have to say from my own experience that they do exist in some way or another.

If the ghost was an actual person their personality is similar to when they were alive. There are spirits which are not "of the light" which are malevolent but they cannot hurt you either. I would read either some books by Sylvia Brown or a book I read recently which is based on the T.V. show The Ghost Whisperer which is called As Alive, So Dead The Memoirs of Mary Ann. She explains a lot of what you're asking .

I believe in ghosts ! there are different kinds of ghosts. Some are really good. the good ones watch over you, protect your house, etc. Then there are the bad ones. They say the bad ones are hard to get rid of because they have a lot of 'emotional baggage'. Then there are the little tricky ghosts. These ghosts like to cause mischeif, and they want to scare you and/or let u know they are there. Sometimes theyre called Poltergeists (not shure of the spelling). Ever seen the movie, Poltergheist? that is a great example. Poltergheists are given a bad rap, but i think that some of them aren't really bad, they probably just want attention. But to sum it all up, ghosts CAN be both good, or bad, or in between. It depends on the ghost :) But remember that ghosts are just people. They may be dead, but theyre still people. They have different personalities just like we do.

I believe in them because I feel that science can't explain Everything. Science can explain boring things but it can't explain the supernatural. People shouldn't rule out their existence just because there's no scientific proof.

I definitely think there are both good and evil. Some are just lost and some are lost and angry. Fortuneatly, I never encountered an evil spirit and hope I never do. But, I do believe they exist.

I'm Native American ... all is from the Creator. I can assure you, the only bad spirit is the man / woman who bring The Spirit of Disharmony to that which God has created.

depends benevolent spirits are just that "bad" or confused spirits. i mean spirits were parts of a person the will carry their TRUE personality traits not the proverbial mask they wore for people.

i would say both. if "ghosts" and "spirits" are the souls of people who are deceased, then there would be both good and bad, because there are both good and bad people.

I DONT believe in ghosts. It is stupid. Never saw a ghost in my life. I so wanna see it.
