No. There is no food*, no alcohol, no contraceptive, and no illegal or over-the-counter drug that can mess up your HPT results, and semen cannot affect the test. The only drugs that can affect pregnancy test results (in the form of a false positive) are prescription drugs that contain hCG (such as Profasi, Pregnyl, Ovidrel, etc.) They are prescribed for fertility treatments or other "female problems." If you are taking one of these drugs, ask your doctor how soon you can use a pregnancy test (different doses require different amounts of time to leave your system, so what works for one woman might not work for you.) *Food itself does not cause false results, but can affect how much urine you have and how dilute it is. Eating salty chips and drinking caffeine all day will result in more concentrated pee, whereas gorging on watermelon and ginger ale will result in lots of very dilute pee. Very diluted urine during very early pregnancy may result in a false negative. For best results, pee in a cup first and make sure your pee is medium to dark yellow

It sounds like he's trying to make your cycle regular and more predictable. The drop in progesterone after you stopped taking the tablet resulted in you having a period. This is what normally happens in a menstrual cycle when progesterone and estrogen drop just before the period starts. It doesn't mean you ovulated though, but progesterone tablets can help normalize and balance your hormones, so hopefully you will ovulate eventually. It might take a few months. If you do ovulate (around day 12-14), your body will start making progesterone to help support a possible pregnancy. If you do get pregnant, then progesterone will continue to be made, if not the levels will fall and you'll have a period. You should ask your gynae if you need to continue taking the pills if you think you're pregnant, because your levels will fall if you stop taking them. Maybe it might be best to try regulate your cycle before trying to get pregnant.

home pregnancy tests measure the presence of HCG- a hormone that woman's body produces only when she's pregnant. it sounds very unlikely that progesterone could cause a false positive. call ur doctor and have him run a blood test asap.sounds to me that you're pregnant.
good luck !!!

I don't think so because pregnancy tests go on you HCG levels a hormone that is only present when you are pregnant. I would check with your doctor to be sure though! I just looked it up and it says that pregancy needs to be confirmed with a blood test, so i would suggest going to see your doctor before you get your hopes up too much!!

No. No hormone other than HCG will cause a positive pregnancy test.
