We respect Americans, and respect your way of life. And hope we can also enjoy the same respect. We love peace. (Who doesn't?) Our great navigator, Zheng He in the Ming Dynasty, sailed the ocean to Africa and opened a sea silk way to find friendship. Almost 90 years later, another navigator found North America and also brought sins there. (One British scholar found it was Zheng He who found North America 87 years earlier than Columbus did. If this is true, the contrast will be bigger!) Is this a token that the Chinese are not a threat to the world? (Why should we on earth?)

As I see it, the theory that Zheng He made it to America before Columbus and Magellan is not important at all. Had Lief Ericson traveled a little further South along the coast, he'd have been here long before any of them. But, regardless, the Native Americans were here to meet whichever actually did get here first. So what does it really matter... no one "discovered" America. The local folk already knew it was here.

I'm sorry, but I do have to agree that a lot of the things I have bought that were made in China have been less than high quality.

On the other hand, I'm sorry to say that the work ethic of American young people has gone down the tubes. Well, even some of the older ones, too! How often do you see 6 city workers standing around watching one guy working? I see it way too much. And they are getting excellent pay and benefits!

I, personally, have no problem with the Chinese, their history, their political stance, or anything else. If anything, I admire and envy their work ethic, family values, discipline, and many things about them!

There will always be some tension due to economic competition.

At a higher level, some Americans will never be comfortable with a totalitarian government.

Also, some Chinese ideas don't match with American ideals - like Chinese censorship of the Internet.

By the way, the book about Zheng He finding North America was found to be false. The British author made it up.

Since I personally don't have that attitude, I would have to guess that it comes from a suspicion that other countries are engaging in economic warfare and China seems to be scoring points in the global game. It's not like the U.S. is innocent or anything, it's just that when you've been number one and you see rivals on the horizon it doesn't usually lead to friendly acceptance if you know what I mean.

I don't know why you refer to something that happened 200+ years ago and today's market all in one.. people don't give a you know what about 200+ years ago (unless it means they will get free money).

China builds cheap crap which kills our economy because the companies here cannot afford to compete. Plain and simple.
