Take the leap. Mac OS X is very user friendly. And in the years I have had it, I have not had to deal with one virus.
If you still feel hesitant, you can run Windows from your Mac until you're comfortable with the change.

I suppose the die-hard mac fans will scream but I've owned both and wouldn't say either had a technological advantage.
Very little practical difference in the user interfaces.
If you've used one, you'll have no trouble figuring out the other one.
These days, the hardware isn't even that different either.
Keep in mind, though, that Mac is only about 8% of the PC market, so you'll be kind of a second class citizen. Software upgrades tend to come out slower (in some cases, not at all) and there are a lot of sites on the web with functions that do not work on macs.
Typically, you can get the same or better specs for less money by buying the windows systems.

Mac OS X is quite easy to use. Some say it is even easier than Windows. In my opinion, it has a Windows XP-like look and feel, or I guess I should say Windows XP has the OS X look and feel. These days, Mac support is much easier to come by in applications/software. You can easily pick up an inexpesive Mac Mini for about $500-$600 at your local Computer retailer. It can use your existing Keyboard, Monitor and Mouse. It's a good way to get into the world of Mac without spending an arm and a leg.

Mac OS X is very easy OS to use, you'll pick it up in know time, and once you realize how things are done, it will seem obvious that that's how the should be done in windows too. When you first start using it, it will feel kind of like writing left handed (unless you are left handed, in which case it would feel like writing right handed.) The biggest change, you won't have anywhere near as many crashes or freeze-ups, and you have to remember to quit every program, not just close the window it opens in.

Don't listen to that last guy, he doesn't know jack. Software updates usually come weekly. The key difference between Apple and Microsoft when it comes to updates is this: When Apple updates it's software, it's for improvements to make the software run faster, or give it new features. If there is a web site that doesn't function correctly with Safari (which is rare), you can download and use Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer itself. You will not be a "second class citizen", but a member of the elite. The ones who realize that Apple is where the future is born.

much more intuitive than windows: most everything is drag-and-drop simple.
it is a single-kernal operating system which means that it doesnt crash half as much as a windows box.
Installing new stuff is drag-and drop, no registry no problems
it has a built-in fire wall and THERE ARE NO VIRUSES
www.apple.com has a switchers guide
