fate can be changed or 'modified' before it happens?

I use the word destiny for really big goals and events. I think they can be altered, played with, but not changed. I use the word fate for smaller things like getting a certain job or making a friend and I think those things change all the time. And yes I believe the two things are related so I suppose that what I believe is that your purpose can't be denied, but that the journey to get there can take many paths.

I certainly like to believe in fate. It means that any screwups I make aren't my fault but meant to be. :P But honestly, I don't believe that some God or something decided everything that is going to happen. Maybe there are specific effects of something happening that make it so there's something like fate. You know, like everything will happen a certain way, but for thus and such reason. If that's the case then I wouldn't believe that it can be changed. If there were some spiritual fate, then I'd think that it could be changed or modified, but by the creator of such plans, not the people the plans affect.

I believe in fate, to a certain extent, not so much that you're born a certain day and your expiration is already determined. But just like everything, we have freewill that is able to twist fate some. Often times you'll see that things happen, and there are a million if's and what about's that could've or should've happened differently. But when it comes down to it, the things happened as they did for some reason, against all the circumstances around it.

to a certain extent, yes things are predestined, specially if we don't do anything and let fate decide the course of our lives. this is passivity. but we can also change or influence fate a bit by our choices and actions. this is being proactive. now, what do you prefer - - - complete lack of say in our lives or having a say even though how small this say actually affects our lives? i prefer having a say, otherwise life would be meaningless. cheers!

I think that 'fate' can be modified in that your actions are your choices, but will what come of them is something you can't change.

In other words, I think that you can control some things, but only so much.

I don't believe in predestination. I believe we have the freedom to make our own choices and determine our destiny. However, God is not bound by time as we are, so He already knows the future and all the decisions we will make. In that sense I guess my future is "written" but it will be what I make it to be based on my choices.

Our Heavenly Father knows what is going to happen to us, but we are given free will. He wants us to choose what He wants for us, which is the best possible outcome. He gives us tools: prayer, bible, fruits, vegetables, omega 3, 6 and 9s, friends, counsell, service to others, kindness to our famillies, appreciation and compassion.

Everyone is entitled to these and should use them for the highest good of all.

Life is not pre-determined, it is simply a series of events conflicting with other events.
