Why should they get paid so much when there are so many other things that need the attention and money if we really need to keep it inspite of all the problems that it can lead to.
Does money really need to be a social standard?

They do not make large salaries, my husband makes more than the Congressman & Senators. He almost makes as much as the Vice President. The president makes $400,00, the vice president $208,100 & the senators & congressmen make $162,100. I would take that public criticism for that. Their staff if like a secretary & different salaries - I do not claim my husband's secretary or assistants as our income. The pressur & responsibility of jobs would be $1,000,000 jobs in public arena. Check out the presidents of corporations income. The owner of my husband's company is in the excess of 1.5 million a year, not $400,000 like President.

Money has been a social standard since the beginning of its introduction. Before money there was "trading" with gold, silver, copper etc and before that there was otehr trading things like pottery etc

Some goverment officials do deserve a high pay. They are not doing just any job out there, they have to be very intelligent, savvy about the issues that they will be working on, have had an extensive educational and expeirence background and that takes money to build. So why not get paid for what you already invested on yoru entire lifetime?

I have a half sister married to an Ambassador. They have seen better days, but in general when they are out on duty as Mr. and Mrs. Ambassador in some European country or even before European they started out in Libya and that was definitely something hard to deal with if you are a
Western person.
Life in a higher govermental position requires a lot more responsibilities than a normal citizen's job.
The time that goes into building the career for example as Ambassador is a long one, and it also takes much studying, travelling, having to move every two years all yoru family and things to go work from country to country. It can sound adventurous but it can be a pain too. Every two years your children have to go to a different school, different country, language all. Its hard work too. Much harder than just a regular citizen in America.

It can take its toll and does take its toll on the family. Having higher govermental job means you are dedicated completely to the goverment and your family comes last. As in the military too. That is the hardest and most difficult sacrifice a person can make that surpasses money rewards.

So your answer lies here. Sacrificing family life, family, regular stability and permanence in one's life and times takes away all the money in the world. Why not get paid back a little more for all that ?

Those in government are usually the best and brightest amongst us.
Keeping with a fascist agenda, they need more money to support a family and have kids, to propagate a good, healthy new herd of humans. The rest of us can't afford kids and are only fooling ourselves to have any.
Thus, obvious conflicts and war continue as prophesied.

They should be dropped down to nothing or at the very most 20,000 that way we will get the people there who truly want to serve this great country.
