you can. It's called a sympathetic pregnancy and very rare. Chances are, you are just retaining fluid or gaining weight and are bloated. You may have a hormonal imbalance, fibroid, or cyst that is keeping you from having your period. If your dr thinks you are pg despite a negative blood test, he should do an ultrasound asap to see if you are pg or have another problem.

I know you can have a psychosomatic pregnancy(what my doc called it :)), but those are rare, pretty much when you have yourself so convinced you are pregnant that your body manifests symptoms. However, at about 6 weeks pregnant (which is what you would be if you just missed your first period), or even at 10 weeks (which you would be if this was a second missed period) you would not have a pregnancy bulge. Most women don't even start to show to themselves until at least 12 weeks, even examining their body every day minutely. Most first timers don't show until 16 weeks or later. If the tests tell you negative (blood is the most reliable) and your doc is still saying possibility, perhaps you should see another doc for a second opinion about your trouble. Usually when the blood test says no HCG there is no HCG, which means no baby. In the first few weeks the numbers are supposed to double each day, or so my doc told me when I had a miscarriage and my numbers stayed the same for a week then started dropping. You could have any number of other problems that have caused your period to be late. Explore all avenues with an open mind, even if you really want to be pregnant.

Okay first, you have a stupid dr if he didn't do blood test to find out and just left you thinking....
Besides that, dr's know how to feel on you and tell you that you have a baby inside of you.
Now as for your question, I have heard that if you honestly believe in your mind that your pregnant and you tell yourself that so much, you can miss or be late on your period and even have morning sickness and gain weight cause it does something to chemicals in your brain and you have made your body honestly think that. But never the less, it won't make a baby grow inside of you and you will never look like a full blown out pregnant woman. Honestly, I think the only reason you gain weight is cause you think your pregnant and you are eating more. Now DON'T TAKE MY WORD on this cause like I said, this is just something that I heard.

It's possible, but unlikely. Its also unlikely that you would be showing this early, especially if this would be your first pregnancy. There are a lot of other ailments that could cause your stomach to bloat up. If your Dr. is not looking into any of these you should seek out another Dr.

I once had a girlfriend who we thought was pregnant. She got about six months along and then it turned out she was never pregnant to begin with. The doctor said it is called an "Hysterical Pregnancy". She showed, her breasts grew, her period stopped. The whole thing. Her body really thought it was pregnant. And no, it wasn't a miscarriage - she was just never pregnant.

Well I think its true on having pregnancy symptoms, Your hormones could be changing and your body is reacting on it. So at least give it until you start your next period. If not go to a physician. Cuz something else could be wrong, good luck.
