If a minor tries to use a fake ID at a bar or something in Texas, what is the worst that could happen to them?

The "worst"? A couple years jail time and a couple thousand dollar fine. But most likely they'd just get a warning first and have the ID taken away, unless they are attempting to actually buy and consume alcoholic drinks. If they use someone else's ID (even an older brother or sister who looks similar to them, etc) it's Identity Fraud and the punishment is much more severe. If they are under 18, the cops are also required to tell the kid's parents face-to-face and sometimes that's the worst punishment.

They should just respect the law and wait until they are 21. It's not worth the criminal record. If everyone else can wait until they're 21, so can they. It's really not worth it. It also looks soo bad on future resumes when they do a background check. It makes the person look irresponsible and untrustworthy.

6 months in jail and a $2000 fine. Also possible suspension of drivers license.

Possession of a Fake ID
Possession of a fake ID is a Class B misdemeanor! All Class B misdemeanors have a possible punishment of six months in jail and a $2,000.00 fine. Fake ID is on the same penalty level as a first DWI. Furthermore, the suspect would be arrested and need to bond out of jail. This law also applies to anyone who possesses more than one driver’s license. Furthermore, if a person under 21 years of age is found by the police to be in possession of alcohol, the police will suspect that s/he has a fake ID.

A driver's license can be suspended for one year for fake ID and DWI. Driving with a Suspended DL is a Class B misdemeanor with further loss of driver’s license. Penalties and suspension periods increase on subsequent arrests.

Depending on how many times you've done it....first time you get your fake ID taken away and a warning. Second time $400 fine depending on the conditions....(drunk or not) and if you get caught by a nice bouncer nothing but a fair warning and some put your ID up so u dont try to get in again.
I never have had a third time and getting caught so i dont know what happens after The second time.
Just be careful....and wise about some of the bouncers aere tough about it and others are somewhat cool.

My nephew was caught buying beer with a fake ID. It cost $700 in court fees & loss of his drivers license until he was 21. It was his 1st offence. The only other thing on his record was a traffic ticket.

I don't know about Tx, but in FL, SC, IN, and TN, You can go to jail and a big fine. and lose you license or not be able to get them until you are 18, or 21. Not really worth the chance I think

If you really are "curious", try it, although I don't recommend it. How about just waiting until you are old enough and a little more mature? With all respect.
