To fill you in right now, I am a teen, not some adult complaining at you guys. I'm so sick of all of it, of all the pregnant girls walking in our school. It makes me so sad and heartbroken to see their futures being flushed down the toilet. It just really tears me up, knowing that I've got a future going, but they had to ruin it for themselves. I'm not being sarcastic; I'm getting down about it just thinking about it as I type it. I just wish that they could wait and not have to worry their friends and family and loved ones. Well, thanks for answering, and I hope that the numbers go down........ it would mean so much to me! have a nice day! :)

I feel the same way as you do. But most of these girls do not have the same outlook or high self value that you do. They think that if they get pregnant their boyfriends will stick around and that they will have someone to love them. They don't think about diaper changes, feedings every 4hrs, teething, colic, etc. Statistics show that teen mothers are single mothers and they are poverty stricken. A lot of them don't even try to take advantage of free education. They are happy just being poor and popping out babies. Too bad not more teenage girls value their bodies and lives.
A lot of their parent's don't teach them how to prevent pregnancy. The US government and many parents belive that if adults burry their head in sand then teens won't have sex. I taught sex ed to junior high students and frankly it is scary the things they believe. More emphasis should be placed on teaching about STDs and how to prevent pregnancies because kids are going to have sex no matter what their parents or President Bush says.

Well I had mine at 19. They put me on birth control and it didn't work. I was out of high school. It didn't really end my life. It made it better. I'm so glad I had him now at 23. He is the best thing. it help me grow up. Without him I'd probably not be too grown up about things. Yeah it does make me sad. Cause some girls are just too young. Some become good mothes others don't. I would find it hard in high school to walk around with a baby. They are probably under so much stress. Not good for baby or mommy. Maybe numbers will go down but I doubt it. The schools needs to come up with better ideas. It is nice to see a young woman carring so much.

Tell me about it. No im not an adult either. I'm a 15 year old girl from Mississippi. Yes here at my school, a girl got pregnant by a mexican. Not that i have anything against them. But she's white like me. It made me so sad to see that her future had been torn away for that. Her mom has to watch the baby while she's at school. I had hoped that she had a little more sense but her parent's don't talk to her about those situations so i dont' know if she knew not what to do...but i thought she had some sense not to do that.

I am not sure how I ended up on this board but yes, I agree with you and there is way too much of this going on.
You are a very mature thinker and will go far in life. I wonder if the teens that are getting pregnant were a result of one themselves or just want something to do. I don't worry so much about the teens future as much as I worry about the child's.
Thank you for your steadfastness and knowledge!

Well, I'm a teen also and I go to a school where teens get pregnant all the time..the youngest I've seen was a 13 yr old...some of these girls want them and some of them don't get abortions only because of religous beliefs..but you gotta remember that their life is not be flushed...it's just being directed down a different path because you never know...maybe that baby is going to make that girl more responsible and less careless...it'll make her more determind for her life and her child's...so just becuase to you it seems their life is wasted...that child may be saving their life...and its their choice and their business...so just congradulate them and move on with your life...

Yes, I am tired of seeing preggie teens. I feel bad for them and I think it's partially the parent's fault and partially the school's. While I don't condone pre-marital sex, I believe that if people are going to make the decision to have sex, they should be well versed on ways to protect themselves and should have ready access to contraceptives. A big part of this has to do with sex education, something that is sadly being overlooked.
PS- I'm not that far out of my teens, I'm only 21.

Absolutely... and what I'm even more sick of is seeing my taxes go to support these girls through welfare and WICK because they want to drop out of school and don't want to get a job. In the big picture, it devalues our society as a whole. Look at some of these girls and think about what type of child they'll likely raise... the apples don't fall too far from the trees!

Yup - it is very sad. It's especially sad for us adults who want kids more than anything and could give them a great life - to see a young teen mom pregnant and note even able to offer herself a good life, let alone care for a baby.
I see pregnant teens all the time and it makes me wonder why they weren't educated to use protection or birth control. Maybe we need to get better programs for teens to get birth control - but I think a lot of it is the parents - parents need to be involved in their kid's lives.

none of you know what you're talking about. not all teen moms are irresponsible sluts. our futures are not being flushed down the toilet, they are just going a different way then most people's lives. yes, there are some bad teen moms who really made a mistake, but there are also teen moms who do a good job with their babies and have FEELINGS!!!!! like me. so you can all eat me.
