I don't think it is illegal unless you do not have enough bedrooms. Many states have a law that says "2 heartbeats per bedroom", thus if you don't have 2 bedroom place, you can not have that many people occupying the place. So, one bedroom for 2 roommates, 2 bedroom can be 4 roommates, etc.

That is illegal and a form of discrimation if that is so! That cant tell you who you can or cant live with.. This is suppose to be a free country ! What if a mother and a daughter one who is 45 and one who is 20 is living together what are they going to tell the mother to get rid of her daughter, i dont think so!

You need to check into "Fair Housing" laws and if you feel you are being discriminated against....retain an attorney. I know that the City of Black Jack in St Louis MO has a ridiculous City Ordinance that only married couples and their family can occupy a residence. Let me know who is denying you and your roomates occupancy and where they are located. As long as you qualify for credit approval and a criminal background check, they can't deny you!

It's not illegal in any state in the USA ... it may be against the rules of the owner of the property, though.

In which state? I know in some it is because very old laws consider it a brothel. Back in the day, this is how they ran whore houses. If you do, I'll give you my e-mail :P
