HELP! We're under attack by seemingly invisible mosquitoes. I managed to smack one the other day and it was such a pale color of beige and only about half a cm in size that it was nearly invisible. Is this in fact a mosquito? We live in Alexandria, Egypt and we've seen regular old mosquitoes a lot. This year, not so much. Just these evil little white things we can't see but bite like crazy. Anyone down with entymology??

Based on your description I would say they are probably midges. Check out the site below to see if you think this is what they were.
