Oh, you have got to try this, it really works. Buy a box of denture tablets[ for cleaning false teeth] a couple of tablets with warm water in a cup and soak. These tablets do a wonderful job.

Depending on what stones the gold is set with, an ultrasonic cleaner with mild jewelry soap should work fine. If the there are opals, coral, pearls or any other porous stones involved, simply wipe the gold with a jewelry cloth or shami. You can buy tarnish removers for gold but they are harsh and I do not recommend them. You can get the ultra sonic cleaner at Walmart, eBay, etc for about 20 bucks.

I agree with Cookie. You can clean almost every type of jewelry with denture tablets (EXCEPT pearls). The gold and stones shine and sparkle like brand new. This even works on silver jewelry that is beginning to tarnish. Just don't use it on pearls.

vinegar does wonders. Just dilute with water first and soak your gold. You can use an old tooth brush to scrub it up.

i was going to suggest the denture cleaner as well. But just a little warning........i left my silver in too long and it cracked and tarnished it. On silver i would just try the tooth paste it works.
