This is also a title of a Rand book that is basically a criticism of society building or rather destroying, based on the idea that, as society advances, certain powers reduce society to basics when they detect any change that indicates advancement. Rand asks, is maintaing a rule of the primitive a good thing. What are your views on this?

What Ayn Rand meant (actually Peter Schwartz was the one that gave it that title) was that the concrete bound mentality which is being taught in our gov't run schools is going to lead us back to being primitives. The ethics of altruism is going to destroy civilzation and the various movements that the book talks about (i.e. environmentalists) is leading to the destruction of man's mind (the pillar of civilization). On a positive note their is an alternative to the irrationality and altruism of today's culture. The alternative is rationality and selfishness which Ayn Rand has shown is based in the facts of reality.

I don't think that the concept posed is worth the grey matter to even consider.

The fact of the matter is.... Is that person came up with a topical concept and wrote a book about it!

And in doing so contributed greatly to the dilemma which was written about!!! I'm sure by now the person is also enjoying the Mercedes Benz, nice house and feeling quite smug about the bank account!

Those who allow themselves to get sucked into such things and even end up arguing about it.... They are being played like quarter slot machines! Buying such books lowers that to nickle slots.

Now what are your thoughts on that subject????
