I have no idea, I don't even know or care what they are for. I just hope that I might be able to help at least one person, when I answer questions. Some of the problems are very serious, and I am one who Loves to do for others.

I haven't noticed people actually freaking out about them, but I do understand how they're somewhat enjoyable. Some people like playing video games to earn points. Some people like buying stuff with their credit cards to earn points. Some people like answering people's questions and helping them out. Yeah, I think Yahoo! Answers is the best outlet for this sort of thing as long as they abide by the community guidelines.

Its mad I know! I mean those people at the top of the leaderboard...They act like they are members of a supergroup at least! Have you seen Kevins' Q&As? I have more serious matters to worry about other than getting to level 7.I am quite happy with level 3!

LOL, I don't know, but I DO get caught up in it! It's a lot like the game show Whose Line Is It Anyway, the points just don't matter!
But I AM almost on level 4!!!!!!!!!

People shouldn't get too wrapped up in points; however, as you earn more, you are able to participate more on the site (ask, answer, rate, vote, and comment). In that regard, points and levels are 'worth' something.

I'm not sure. To be honest, I could care less about the points. I'm just curious as to what kinds of questions people are asking.
