Carter Country...ended in 1977...it was the mayer that would say "handle it handle it". In Clinton Corners, Georgia, Chief Roy Mobey commands a group of bungling deputies while dealing with the down-home Mayor Teddy Burnside and accepting newly appointed Sergeant Curtis Baker.

I think it was the mayor (or the sheriff ? ) who was delegating authority to his underlings in the TV show...Carter Country. It was about a Georgia Sheriffs Office and they called it because Jimmy Carter had just been elected and they were capitalizing on the buzz.
