I don't agree. I've had a hot professor but I wouldn't date him.

I don't know about the "hot", but the real challenge here is to have the power to just stay "professor". Imagine yourself as the student who is not interested in the professor and he is hitting on her, that is really gross.
Even if she is interested in the professor and he can rule out all the other factors (that could be manipulating him for grades or...) then he is not acting professionally, i.e not doing the job that he is supposed to do. If things are too serious he should wait until the class is over, or she should switch to another class.
I understand that it doesn't sound a very cool reply, but believe me there is no other solution here. Even if both the professor and the student are happy, this could mean other students get less attention that could mean a bad effect on them. The major problem here is that the two sides of relation are not equal. One has the authority the other doesn't.
Therefore, the best thing is that the professor doesn't let the "hot" comes to his mind in the first place. He should just leave his "manhood" behind the door when he enters the class, if he wants to stay objective and effective as a professor.

If the professor was around the same age as the person in college then I think that would be fine. As long as he was still fair with his teachings, and kept things confidential between their relationship and at college.

That will get you into trouble as a professor depending on the university policies regarding teachers fraternizing with students.

It's not unusual, but it is usually doomed on both sides! In other words, someone will most likely get hurt. Anything can work, as long as one of the persons isn't married, and then it shouldn't work on the principle that if he/she fools around while married to one person, what happens when the replacement becomes dull... As we all know, it could work, but chances are slim.

Sounds great in a fantasy kind of way but then when reality seeps in it's a big turn-off...why would a college prof need to hit on a student? Seems a little gross when I think about it like that...

NO.
I know how easy it could be to happen but unethical-definately on the professor's part.
If over 18 it may be legal but not ok.
They should wait and "explore" a relationship or whatever it is after she isn't his student anymore.
