firstly, you need a dvd burner and some form of copying software such as dvd shrink, although some people do use decrypter and nero that come with windows xp if thats what your using.I use dvd shrink, only because i find it easy to use for me.you can download that fom several mirror sites,-just search the net.since shrink no longer exists to give updates,it is getting behind on the latest encrypted movies so i have a pogram called dvd 43 it is free and it simply leaves a little yellow face at the bottom of your screen.when you put the movie into your drive that you want to copy, the facelooks a bit nasty for a second or 2 then turns into a smiling green face, meaning it has broken the code.you then simply open disk on shrink andclick ok in the boxes that pop up and shrink will analyse and then give you an option to uncheck the different language boxes--recomended you only leave english as you shorten the burning time and the disc space .now thats the analysing done ,so then you click on backup.--another box pops up asking you where you want to save it to(generaly with shrink you simply press ok as it has already done the homework for you.then it says encoding, and copys it to the folder.when it has finished it ejects the disc and asks you to insert an empty disc to write to.you do this and it burns your movie ,and ejects it when finished.thats it.--start over again.--tips never do burn after burn(multiple copies)--it can overheat your burner and shorten its life, the time it takes to backup your next movie is giving it time to cool down.you can sit there all day long doing that as long as you are encoding then burning.--use the same folder all the time and shrink will say to you--the folder already contains files,--do you wish to delete them--say yes and it will copy over the top,of course unless you want to leave it on your hard drive.--They take up a lot of space and eventualy you have to go into my computer and into c drive and delete them to give you more space.I am trying to find the site for dvd43v3.90 but i may have to get back to you on that or you can try to google it.keep an eye on this answer and when i find it i will modify the answer, otherwise send you mail.good luck and feel free to send mail if you get stuck.-----ok heres the proceedure to get dvd43 and shrink and los of other good stuff.--go to www.videohelp.com--take the first site on the page=1-then top right hand of this page, click on-new tool versions.-then next page-2nd colum click on--dvd rip tools.--both shrink and dvd 43 are close to each other, but dont forget the site--write it down as its a hive of information.--hope i was of some help and --i have used almost all the other software free trials so if you are stuck and need help feel free to drop a message by clicking on my avatar.lots of happy burning.-oh just one more thing.try not to do any other activity on the computer when burning dvds it sometimes can cause jumping etc.

the guy who said yo need to burn to a dvd is half right it is better to burn to dvd but you can burn to cd its caled burning a VCD.

as for the complete procedure thats way to long to type here. so go to www.nero.com then download the free trial of nerov7 then download and read all the help files once you have read the help files and understand them then and only then are you ready to burn a movie to dvd or VCD.

you need to know however unless you own the copyright to or the copyright owner has given written permisson for you to burn the film you may be liable to prossecution under copyright law.
however copyright law does not seem to apply or is not generaly enforced when recording from tv to a PVR, direct to DVD or other recording source such as the hard drive in a mediacentre based PC.

it's relatively straightforward to burn a film to DVD, if you have the film stored on a hard drive for example you simply open up your choice of burner nero is the easiest one i've found for burning media projects. you would then drag your file to the cd location (browse your hard drive from within nero) then when ready with your disc in the drive you can go a head and burn.
you may also like to go to www.divx.com and see if any of the softwarre available is suitable for your needs.
you may also like to consider looking online fro movieshop from mindscape solutions. (my copy came free with a pack of sony DVD-R about 12 to 18 months ago)

Yep, you may try this, yet, if I were you, first i'd back up all my archives some position else, format the demanding pressure (both manually or employing the XP cd) and do a sparkling set up. maximum in all chance, provided that you've the right approaches (Optical pressure, professional XP cd with key), each little thing might want to pass easily.

Another site you can go to and download a free 30 day trial is at slysoft.com. There are two programs you need, both available at this site. CloneDVD which handles the ripping and burning and AnyDVD, which decodes the encryption on some DVD's so you can rip them.
