First of all, you are not "races". They're just giving the wrong assumption probably because of the way you are typing your question. It is spelled "racist" by the way. And yes, if you were born in Africa, you would be African. Just like being born in the United States, you'd be American. It's not a race. It's a nationality.

What question? If you are from Africa you must be African!! It is not a question most people would ask!

And, it really depends on the question! Some questions drip of racism. There is no way that the person doesn't know it is and it is usually ask to get a reaction.

So, ask away!

PS, I would call someone a racist just by the questions they ask and their other questions! It isn't hard to spot them, and most, if you are on here long enough, you know!! And their are racist questions, which you can say are racist questions. Doesn't always mean the person asking them are.

I answered your other question and did not even imply you were a racists (just to clarify for others who might read this).

But I can see why others did.

Your question seemed a bit ignorant, which is generally the basis of racism and for you to come right out and say that a white person born in Africa is not African, sounds like a black pride statement, which again, is a form of racism.

I'm sorry that people were rude to you.

Well, it was a dumb question. If you are born in Africa, why wouldn't you be African unless your parents were on vacation in Africa when you were born. And even in that case you are still considered African because that is were your birth cert. will be issued. So, anyone born in Africa is an African. What I want to know is why am I called an African American when I wasn't born in Africa. I am just an American.

People are hypersensitive these days. Most people from Africa are proud to tell you. People are ignorant and will be inappropriate even if you show genuine interest in knowledge of such things.Personally, I just decided not to engage in those conversations. The criticism and over-reaction helps nothing. Good luck. Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you probably had good intent.

if a person falls under the following defintion of a racist - then they are one - wether they want to admit to it or not. age doesn't matter in this instance - a person can have these beliefs at any age.

rac-ist --
1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
r they want to admit to it or not.

Good one you racist because you think too much about why white person from Africa consider their selves Africans that they do not deserve that and that on the end you said "I'm not racist because I'm black" that people push to call you racist by the way I think you are not racist.

Most people only call people thing only because they have a such low esteem about themself. I say dont let it bother you. after all atleast you have a life worth more than the people thats calling you that. They just dont have anything better to do and they know it bothers you. smile and laugh with them for God made us all different.Just dont fall down to their level. Let God guide you.

That as always bothered me. Aren't we all, (who were born in the U.S.), Americans. Why is it African American for some and just Americans for others. I mean our ancesters all came form elsewhere. You don't see people calling themselves Polish Americans or German Americans...and so forth.

it's racist but yeah. I dunno, most of my friends (i'm white) are black or bangledeshian (i know i butchered that sorry) or some other ethnicity. it's ridiculous that i be called a racist for no reason. hell, my best friend is black. It shouldn't matter. I'm starting to think that God should have made everyone colorblind so we could move on. C'mon, the movement is behind us- EVERYONE IS EQUAL!!!
