I find dancing a big enough work out. But running or other cardio activity will probably increase your stamina and allow you to dance for longer periods of time without dying of exhaustion.

Dancers often supplement their dance training with specific kinds of exercises that help them to stay in shape and avoid injuries. Pilates is a favorite, along with yoga and floor bar. Most male dancers need to add upper-body conditioning for muscle tone and strength to lift their partners.
Your additional question doesn't necessarily hold to be true. Some work outs, in fact, are not advisable for dancers. For example, they shouldn't "bulk up," since they mostly need to develop the longer muscles. Running is also not such a good idea, since runners lead with their heal, while dancers lead with their toes.
In general, being good at various forms of exercising does not mean that those people would necessarily make good dancers.

Of course, dancers have to be in great condition or we'd never last in the dance world. HOwever, the dancing itself helps us condition for classes as well. Any reason why you ask?

I dance but I don't work out. There is no need for it when your dancing. It does not help you dance.

We absolutely do! :)
Pilates is common, but dancers also do a lot of strength training to build muscles, prevent and/or repair injury, and keep from building a "tolerence" to dance excersize. They also need to build endurance chardiovascularly, and stretch often to stay limber! So excersize is very important to a dancer!!
