Life is getting financially easier than it was thirty years ago. Gas was 36 cents a gallon in 1973. Today, it's over 3 bucks. As a percentage of household income, the 36 cents in 1973 represents a much greater amount of money than does the 3 bucks a gallon we pay today. Americans make more money than any other people on Earth. We have the money to buy a boat, a big RV, multiple ATVs in the family, we go on vacations to expensive resorts and amusement parks, some of us have more than one house, et cetera. We have all this because we have Freedom to be the best we can be and to rise as far as our ambition will take us. In Europe, the governments tax the will to live out of almost everybody, so they can never achieve what we have here. Tax rates in Europe are double and triple what we pay, so it's not a wonder.

The problem in this day and age is the ease of communications. Grandpa didn't see commercials on television for the latest widget, so he didn't even know he wanted one. Now, through TV, radio, newspapers and the Internet, everyone sees what everyone else has and everyone wants everything. Do I really NEED a flat screen plasma TV? No, but it would be so cool to have and I'm so jealous of everyone who has one and I feel so miserable because I can't afford one and life isn't even worth living any more. Right. In this country, just about everyone who is willing to work can have adequate shelter, clothing and food. But because we're inundated with ads to go out and buy more more more, we're not satisfied with what we have. So psychologically, it's more difficult now. But physically, with the improvements in medicine and agriculture, we're all better off. We just don't always realize it.

I'm sure modern conveniences make it easier for me than it was for my grandparents but with each passing year, even, the cost of fuel and groceries and everything else is rising at an astronomical rate and my wages just aren't keeping up. I imagine I'll be on the poverty line in another 10 years. Or else I will be in unfathomable debt.

both, easier b/c of technology and transportation-----harder because some people use technology to make more advanced weapons for the wrong reasons. thousands of people get shot every day for no reason at all

it isn't troublesome considering the fact that i'm no longer addicted to steak yet I savour different cuts of purple meat. What seems greater reliable could be to no longer have fish to consume. i like having some form of fish a minimum of two times a week. yet this is basically me.

Cost of living goes up but the paycheck doesn't raise fast enough. I made half the money 20 yrs ago but could do more with it then. just my economic opinion. :-) not to mention experience.
