To say that this is a detriment to family is a crock. People living together without married plays more into the root of the decay of the family unit. Also the disposal marriages of today also hurts. So why don't we talk about these two items. And it is always convient for people to pull out their bibles and tell us its wrong even if they don't follow the other messages contain within it.

Hey, I'm not. The government should get out of people's personal lives. You cannot legislate values.

Also, they say marriage is "sacred." But Britney got married and divorced in one hour. What about the Bachelor? What about "who wants to marry a midget?" Remember that one?

I agree with you! Heterosexuals marriages are not perfect or any healthier than gay relationships are. THAT is a proven fact. Heterosexual marriages are often filled with cheating, coveting, threesomes, divorce, incest, abuse, deadbeat dads and fatherless kids. Gay couples will not do any worse as a married couple OR as parents. Stop bring god and the bible into everything, people! It is getting BORING and Adam and Eve just don't matter anymore! Early men and women were meant to be fruitful and multiply and populate the earth - and that was ALL! We're now over-populated. Gay marriage is NOT any threat to heterosexual living and it will not ruin it or destroy it. Gay parents do NOT raise children who become gay or even unhealthy! For those of you who are "sick of hearing about this stuff" - TOO BAD! Gay people are in a rights movement because we have almost NO rights and we have to FIGHT for what most people have handed to them! There's a whole life going on and it's too bad you aren't even aware of it.

I'm not concerned. I think it's great. It means so much to some people to make it official and so they should be allowed. If Christians don't start to adapt to modern life and perhaps start looking at the bible for modern day meaning rather than the things they were looking for 100 yrs ago they are going to start looking like superstitious backwater hillbillies. I have nothing against them and have good friends who are Christians but get with the times people!

Good question, and the selective following of the bible is simply a
function of what the evangelicals who are spouting this stuff from the pulpits are chooseing to focus on to the exclusion of all else,
and them voting as a block simply on those things even if who their voting for is selling this country and it's security down the river
that's none of their concern as long as gays don't get married and we don't have abortion. Plain and simple this country doesn't have
much time left.

The whole argument is a crock. I am a straight man and I have no thoughts of getting married. I like doing man things like watching and enjoying sports, playing games on my PS2 and walking around in my underware. Women sometimes want to make too many changes that screw too many good men up. If gays want to get married, let em. Good luck.

Bottom line it is the way the government has it's little hands in the hypothetical cookie jar. As long as the appeases the public......it gets votes to further it's own agenda.
Many people are close minded because it is a taboo..........SO if it makes them uncomfortable........or taps into their own hidden taboos.........they fight to squash those inhibitions.
Personally, I don't see why there is all the ruckus....marry who you want......etc..etc...

I think homosexuals should be allowed to be married. Just because someone has a different sexual preference than me doesn't mean they shouldn't have the same rights.

I agree with you. I'm all for people getting married, but they should be serious about it. I didn't get married so that I could get divorced a few years later.

Because people would rather look for faults in other people or discriminate against things they don't understand. Than take a look at themselves.

I don't care what gay people do, I'm just tired of having it shoved in my face all the time(so to speak)
