has this ever happened to you?
i worked at a summer camp this summer....for about a week before i was fired for hitting a camper.i did not hit her...after awhile i realized what happened. we were at the bowling alley when this supposedly happened, and since i wasn't told about it till 3 hours later i couldnt figure out what my boss was talking about. anyways, the girl was jumping up at me, and i was trying to get everyone ready to go, shoes returned, etc. anyways, i turned around at one point cause someone was calling me, and my hand must have hit her. but the thing is she said i hit her in anger...whici i didnt... the other thing that pisses me of is that no one else saw it, and the girl had nothing on her...but they fired me on the basis of her word....i'm only 19, and this is going to look just great on furure applications.....my boss was like i'm sorry, but i have no choice but to fire you...there was no investigation or anything...and it just sucks.does this seem fair?

One of the most difficult lessons of life to learn is that life is not fair, period. Bad things happen to good people. And good things happen to bad people. Today, when someone is in an authority position, it can be very difficult to protect oneself especially when dealing with minors. You are learning this lesson a hard way. Take advantage of the opportunity and move beyond this. Protect yourself so that this cannot happen to you in your future.

I agree with what another poster said: "Life isn't fair." You could live your life with integrity, but the reality is you have to cover your a$$--and that may entail you being and a$$h***.
A somewhat related injustice: a friend of mine worked at a motorcycle shop. A customer comes in and needs a repair. It was a simple problem and a simple fix (all that was needed was a tightening of a screw). My friend fixed it under the table and didn't charge the customer. Nice to save the guy a few bucks. But the customer ended up dropping the bike in an incident unrelated to the repair. This jerk ends up sueing my friend because the repair was undocumented.
It sucks but it's the kind of world we live in. The best you could do is contest it if possible. Learn from it, and protect yourself as best you can in the future.

Well, you're protected by law as far as your past employer informing potential future employers (or anybody else for that matter) of the reason why you were terminated, or any details about your behavior on the job. They are only allowed to answer questions related to when you worked, whether you quit or were fired, and whether you're eligible for rehire. If you think they might spill the beans on anything else, you might want to have a friend call and pretend to be a business considering on hiring you and see if they say anything. Depending on where you live, it might or might not be legal to record the phone conversation. If it is legal, I suggest you record it and take it into an attorney and sue...

It probably isn't fair, if it happened the way you said it did. One suggestion though, I wouldn't, if I were you, list that job on a new job application. Know one will even ask what you did this summer, and if they do, jobs have been hard to find, everyone knows that. Chalk this one off as a learning experience and move on with your life.

That's not happend to me, but that's life.If your boss had no real choice in the matter then you shouldn't worry to much about a bad recomendation on your refrence sheet.You never know, he may have been killing three birds with one stone.

it does not sound fair file a complaint with the workforce commission this guy is an idiot for putting more importance on an allegation with no witnesses or proof over your rights
