From what I know of freeBSD it can be made very secure depending how you configure it, but the same can be said for most of the linux distros so I would think there isn't much between them security wise, it's all down to how you set everything up.

It depends what distribution of Linux you have. They are normally pretty comparable. If you want security out of the box use OpenBSD
