Personally? I don't think we're ready. Most people would say, "Oh, the extraterrestrials could teach us so much." They could teach us how to live in peace." Yeah right! Get real I might sound jaded or just plain cynical, but let's face it, if we can't get along with each other here on earth, how the heck are we gonna get along with E.T. and his clique? I could be wrong of course. :)

people are going to freak and there will be mass confussion and crime. Then Consumers are going to be sold the crap out of things we dont need . Hmmm what else there will be some racism there for a while. Some people wont be able to except aliens because they are different and will blame them for unusall activities. Missing cows , what not . Then we'll have to discuss "why can't we have intergalactic marriages" and there will be protest from christains who say "they cannot procreate like GOD said " . Then there's going to be issues with the atmoshere's border patrol. Lastly people are going to throw a fit about privacy issues because aliens can read minds. Have acces to private thought account #'s passwords . Dude trust .we are not ready !

The retarded people of planet earth will cause chaos. Each group (religious groups in specific) will react stupidly in a variety of ways and make everything more confusing/dangerous for the 2% of smart humans on this planet.

What would a super-advanced race want with such a primative being such as humans? We have no intellegnce to offer them (obviously due to the fact that they can come in contact with us)... The only thing that they would be interested in is reaping our natural resources for whatever purpose and using us as slaves or for experiments. It would be completely negative if anything. You would be worm food, and so would I... But I'd be going out, sitting in a rocking chair on my porch with a shotgun.

I think it depends on HOW the contact is made. If we find aliens on mars or something, we would probably make them into pets or put them in a zoo. On the other hand, IF aliens find us on earth someday, they would probably show up in some powerful "flying saucers" and destroy us. Kinda like the movie "Mars Attacks!" but worse. Part of the problem would be the language barrier, and really if aliens come here its not to make friends, it would be to conquer us and take our water, food, natural resources etc.

in all honesty i dont beleive that we will be visited by utilizing a complicated existence kind... I Beleive they exist yet human beings are an exceedingly risky race. We kill one yet another for money, our beleifs or only for being a diverse color. If an alien race became to come back right here, The religous nuts would attempt to kill them or a minimum of declare they should be god or god created extra existence on different planets.. One thing that makes me nervous is the evangelistic fervour of those who believe in aliens, like ET is a prophet or something. As a Christian, I see something sinister in this pre-occupation with SETI.

There are no aliens. If we get contacted from outer space, it will probably be a fake, or even demonic.

Also, look into the The Privileged Planet, which calculates just how unlikely life on other planets is.

It depends on what kind of aliens they are. If they're friendly, humans will squabble with each other about who's going to get the alien technology. If they're hostile, it might bring about world peace (among humans), we'll call up Al Queda and say, "War's over! We need your help. See if your suicide bombers can sneak into the alien spacecrafts and blow them up."

So why do you automatically assume they'd be intelligent, benevolent creatures well versed in American English? They're more likely to consist of viruses brought in on meteorites or comets that cause an incurable disease that wipes out humankind.

look at our earth and look at the human history, so we can conclude they will do either things. first, they'll take whatever they need in earth, and all mankind will be their free labor or food or lab mouse. or 2. they will bring new technology or theory, and let us join the empire or rebellion, lol. I think that the movie "Contact" gives a reasonable picture of what I think would happen. Some will go mad, some will protest, others will try to use it to their political advantage, and some will take it in stride.

I think any itelligent life outside of earth would have to be super smart to travel to our planet. They would probably have the sense to avoid contact with us, given the state of things on earth.
