I am having trouble with time management. There are some people who seem to be really organised and tidy, and then there are us. Those who are organised also seem happier and more "in control", so, those who are organised, what do you guys do??

I find it best to keep a "To Do" list and refer to it on a regular basis. One cannot be expected to "remember" everything. Think about things you will need to be doing in the next few days, weeks or months, and how you might handle them. Make some notes on it.

I never put off the hard or time consuming task. Start with them and work on them on a regular basis. Do not procrastinate. Waiting until the last minute to do anything can court disaster and extra problems. Add in the easy tasks as you go along. I am always amazed at those who wait until a week before Christmas to start shopping, or the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, or some other special event, to start shopping for groceries. We know in advance about most of the things that happen in our lives, so why not get started early on them and get most of it out of the way.

I always like to get ideas and suggestions from others, making good mental or written notes on what I was told. I also listen to what others have to say about what is happening in their lives and how they handle them. What better teacher is there than experience, especially when it was someone else's experience. But keep in mind what works for one person might not always work for you.

I believe in keeping things organized., whether it be paper files, computer files and records, a room, desk drawer or closet Being able to put you fingers on something quickly can save you a lot of time. Become a creature of habit when it comes to where you place things. Put them back when finished using them. Be willing to change the place if you find over time that it is not the most convenient or practical place. Also, if you know you are about to use something up, make a note that it will need to be replaced. Keep an ongoing shopping list, and keep the pad and pen in the same place all of the time.

Make it a regular habit to put a little money back for the unexpected things that happen. Keep at it and before you know it you will always have extra for those little things in life you stumble across and want to do at a moments notice.

Most of all, have more confidence in yourself land your abilities. We never know when others might be thinking we are the cool, capable individuals and they would like to be more like us. AND, do not dwell on it because.....what difference will it make 100 years from today? Good Luck and be happy.
